Nancy, I did that yesterday and saw the paragraph "Critical reaction" that you copied. The footnote [21] indicates that is taken from an October 28, 2009, OpEd by JANET ALBRECHTSEN, <a href="http://is.gd/4REnK" rel="nofollow">Has Anyone Read the Copenhagen Agreement?</a> in <i>The Wall Street Journal</i>. What I want to read are the actual words in the treaty which you said you plan on reading. I can not seem to locate the words that Christopher Monckton and Janet Albrechtsen are basing their conclusions and statement on. Can you find them?

I am not up for savataging anything. I just clicked the Wlkpedia page that Roz Savage is referring people to about this upcoming event and low and behold it states as follows.

Critical reaction
In October 2009, conservative commentators reacted critically to the draft Copenhagen treaty. Lord Christopher Monckton, a British parliamentarian, has alleged that a proposed Copenhagen agreement will create a World government, under the auspices of the United Nations, which will have "the power to directly intervene in the financial, economic, tax and environmental affairs of all the nations that sign the Copenhagen treaty." He warned that wealthy nations may be obliged under the treaty to pay an "adaptation debt" to developing nations and to surrender their sovereignty.[21]

I am all for protecting our environment but certainly not at the expense of losing our sovereignty. I have not read the treaty but plan on it.

If anyone can look at the Extreme Ice Survey and not acknowledge that glaciers and ice caps all over the world are disappearing, then their level of denial is beyond rational discourse.

http://www.extremeicesurvey.org/index.php/index.php

I find it insane that the same people who are usually screaming "What about the children?" are the ones who buy into nonsensical conspiracy theories like climate change is a big money-making hoax and the left wants to destroy capitalism. The truth is, while I may only live to see the beginnings of hardships due to climate change and the unsustainable mode of living we have today, it's the next couple generations who will really suffer for our inaction. You'd think they would at least care about that enough to pull their head out of the sand.

Please read the following papers by Dr. James Hansen and his team at NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies which may be downloaded at his website http://www.columbia.edu/~jeh1/

Jan. 13 2009: 2008 Global Temperature Analysis
Jan. 14, 2008: Solar and Southern Oscillations: GISS 2007 Temperature Analysis

If these papers and discussions are just too much to comprehend, you would probably benefit most from a series of videos which explain the science in very clear and simple terms. I recommend starting with this one … http://is.gd/4QDXZ

Sindy, may I suggest a bit more research as what you wrote above clearly shows you have an incorrect understanding of the science. Please read the following papers by Dr. James Hansen and his team at NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies which may be downloaded at his website http://www.columbia.edu/~jeh1/

There is an abundance more fundamental information at RealClimate.org and ClimateProgress.org

Global-warming alarmists are using the myth of climate change to impose an embryonic socialist world government. Following the collapse of communism, the West's progressive elites desperately searched for a viable ideological alternative. They found it in environmentalism. Have you lined your pockets thuroughly?
Although the Green movement wraps itself in the flag of empirical science, it represents the very opposite: a dogma that provides meaning and purpose to its rabid followers. The ideology justifies massive tax increases and government control of the economy; it seeks to cripple free enterprise and curtail market-driven growth. Making money off us, or maybe a little kickstart of $5K for starters?
Global warming is the greatest fraud of our time. The overwhelming scientific evidence shows that, rather than getting hotter, the Earth's temperatures are cooling. Increasing numbers of leading scientists are challenging the flawed computer models used by eco-alarmists.
If the Earth's temperatures are no longer rising, then how can CO2 emissions be responsible for global warming? How could previous dramatic increases in global temperatures - such as the end of the Ice Age - have taken place without concentrations of CO2? The answer is obvious: Carbon emissions are not connected to fluctuations in global temperatures.
The mad drive for an international cap-and-trade system is really geared toward achieving the left's long-sought goal: the destruction of democratic capitalism and national sovereignty.
Nancy Wentworth, you are 100% correct. Let’s save the planet, but let’s listen to people with credibility while doing it. Love the earth, save the planet, stop idiots from ruining our credibility.

It seems to me whoever posted the Ustinov quote intended to insult Roz and those who support and agree with her, and to diminish her cause and the message she is taking to Copenhagen by way of Big Ben and Brussels. The challenge was extended to a presumed impolite Peter impostor. If it was intended as some kind of compliment, please excuse my misinterpretation.
